Overview

CbzNH-PEG1-CH2CH2NH2 is a PEG linker comprised of an amine group and a benzyl (Cbz) protecting group. The PEG1 unit increases the hydrophilicity of the molecule. Amine group is reactive with carboxylic acids, activated NHS esters, carbonyls (ketone, aldehyde), etc. The benzyl protecting group can be removed via hydrogenolysis to form a free amine.
