Overview

Perifosine is an alkylphospholipid that induces apoptosis in tumor cell lines, including U937 and Jurkat T leukemia cells, while sparing normal vascular endothelial cells. It inhibits PC-3 prostate carcinoma cell growth and reduces Akt activation. Perifosine also induces p21WAF1 expression through a p53-independent pathway, causing cell cycle arrest.
