  • Grade:≥95%
  • Formula:C27H31Cl3N6O
  • M.W.:561.95

Overview

Hoechst 33342 is a cell-permeant, blue-emitting dye that binds strongly to AT-rich regions in the minor groove of double-stranded DNA, enhancing its fluorescence. It has excitation/emission maxima at 351/461 nm and exhibits a large Stokes shift, making it suitable for multicolor labeling. More cell-permeant and less toxic than DAPI, Hoechst 33342 is commonly used in fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry for staining chromosomes and nuclei in live and fixed cells. It is quenched by BrdU, allowing studies of cell-cycle progression. Available in various concentrations.
