rac 1-Palmitoyl-3-chloropropanediol is a monoacylglycerol of palmitic acid at the sn-1 position and a chloride group at the sn-3 position. The hydroxyl group enables further derivatization or replacement with other reactive functional groups. The chlorine is a good leaving group and can undergo substitution reactions.
