| 2-AMINO-N-(1-METHYL-1,2-DIPHENYLETHYL)ACETAMIDE HYDROCHLORIDE Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | Anticonvulsant (neuroprotective). | | Biological Activity | Non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist; blocks ion channel and allosteric modulatory site (IC 50 = 8-68 mM). Anticonvulsant in vivo and metabolizes to a more potent desglycine analog. Weakly blocks voltage-dependent Na + channels (IC 50 = 161 mM). | | Biochem/physiol Actions | Remacemide HCl is a low affinity NMDA antagonist with anticonvulsant properties. Remacemide also been shown to block voltage-dependent sodium channels. |
