DI-N-HEXYLAMINE Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Propertiescolourless liquid
UsesDihexylamine is used in organic syntheses.
UsesDi-n-hexylamine is used in organic synthesis and involved in the preparation of succinic acid.
General DescriptionClear colorless liquid.
Air & Water ReactionsDI-N-HEXYLAMINE may be sensitive to prolonged exposure to air. Insoluble in water.
Reactivity ProfileDI-N-HEXYLAMINE neutralizes acids in exothermic reactions to form salts plus water. May be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides. Flammable gaseous hydrogen may be generated in combination with strong reducing agents, such as hydrides.
Health HazardACUTE/CHRONIC HAZARDS: DI-N-HEXYLAMINE is readily absorbed through the skin.
Fire HazardDI-N-HEXYLAMINE is combustible.
Safety Profilepoison by ingestion, skin contact, and intravenous routes. A skin exposed to heat or flame; can react with oxidizing materials. To fight fire, use CO2, dry chemical. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx. See also AMINES.
