| General Description | A Certified Spiking Solution? suited for GC/MS or LC/MS phenethylamine testing applications in forensic analysis, clinical toxicology, or urine drug testing. DOI is a D-substituted amphetamine in the phenethylamine family of hallucinogenic drugs. This designer drug is an extremely potent psychedelic with a long duration of action. | | Biological Activity | Brain penetrant, mixed 5-HT 2A /5-HT 2C receptor agonist (K i values are 0.7, 2.4 and 20 nM for 5-HT 2A , 5-HT 2C and 5-HT 2B receptors respectively). Reduces rapid eye movement (REM) and slow wave sleep and increases waking in the rat. Hallucinogenic agent. Acts via 5-HT 2A receptors to inhibit the inflammatory effects of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)- α . | | Biochem/physiol Actions | (±)-DOI hydrochloride is a potent and selective 5-HT2 serotonin receptor agonist that crosses the blood-brain barrier, increases dopamine turnover and the treatment with DOI counteracted the expression of the nicotine-induced locomotor and neurochemical sensitization, but had no effect on nicotine-induced behavioral disinhibition. The responses to DOI provide evidence that of these receptors are abundant in the cortex, and show relatively lower levels in hippocampus and cerebellum. |
