EC 3.1.1.1 Usage And Synthesis
Chemical PropertiesLight grey powder
UsesEsterase, from Bacillus subtilis, may be used in protein engineering research as well as to study the kinetic resolution of acetates of arylaliphatic tertiary alcohols. Product 96667 is recombinant and expressed in E. Coli (≥10 U/mg).
UsesEsterase Isoenzymes may be used to identify the monocytic element in normal and leukemic cells. They may be used for the biochemical characterization of different hematopoietic cell lineages and stages of differentiation when studying leukemias and lymphomas. Esterase Isoenzyme 1, product 43388, is recombinant and from porcine liver. It is expressed in E. coli.
UsesThe compound is commonly used for the synthesis of biodiesel and biopolymers, as well as in the production of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and flavor compounds.
DefinitionAn esterase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of esters of carboxylic acids.
General DescriptionEsterase belongs to the hydrolase superfamily of enzymes. This recombinant esterase contains a C-terminal histidine tag.
Biochem/physiol ActionsEsterase enzyme has broad substrate specificity. Esterase from rabbit liver has been used to investigate the toxic effect of carbamate insecticides. Esterase from rabbit liver has also been used for the hydrolysis of simvastatin.
