Uses	5-Methyl-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine was synthesized from formamidine hydrochloride. N-Formimino-n-glutamate was synthesized from formamidine hydrochloride. Formamidine hydrochloride was used in the synthesis of imidazoleglycerol phosphate (IGP).
