p-Phenylenediamine dihydrochloride Usage And Synthesis
Chemical PropertiesOff-white crystal powder
UsesDihydrochloride salt of 1,4-Phenylenediamine (P319845). A hair dye component, paraphenylenediamine, as a contact allergen for treatment of inflammatory diseases.
UsesP-Phenylenediamine Dihydrochloride can be used for coloring of keratinous materials using at least an self-?oxidizing dye or a blue, purple or green oxidative dye and at least one fluorescent dye.
General DescriptionWhite to slightly reddish crystals or gray powder.
Air & Water ReactionsWater soluble.
Reactivity ProfileAcidic organic/inorganic salts, such as p-Phenylenediamine dihydrochloride, are generally soluble in water. The resulting solutions contain moderate to high concentrations of hydrogen ions and have pH's of less than 7.0. They react as acids to neutralize bases. These neutralizations generate heat, but less or far less than is generated by neutralization of inorganic acids, inorganic oxoacids, and carboxylic acid. They usually do not react as either oxidizing agents or reducing agents but such behavior is not impossible. Many of these compounds catalyze organic reactions.
Fire HazardFlash point data for p-Phenylenediamine dihydrochloride are not available; however, p-Phenylenediamine dihydrochloride is probably combustible.
