General Description	Colorless liquid. Floats on water.
Reactivity Profile	Ethers, such as 2-ETHOXY-3,4-DIHYDRO-2H-PYRAN can act as bases. They form salts with strong acids and addition complexes with Lewis acids. The complex between diethyl ether and boron trifluoride is an example. Ethers may react violently with strong oxidizing agents. In other reactions, which typically involve the breaking of the carbon-oxygen bond, ethers are relatively inert.
Hazard	Moderate fire risk.
Health Hazard	Contact with liquid irritates eyes. Also irritates skin on prolonged contact.
Safety Profile	Moderately toxic by skin contact. Mildly toxic by ingestion and inhalation. A skin and eye irritant. Flammable liquid when exposed to flame, sparks, and oxidizers. To fight fire, use dry chemical, foam, fog. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes
