Description	3-Methyl-2-butanethiol has a repulsive, characteristic mercaptanlike odor. Prepared from isoamyl chloride and potassium sulfhydrate; also the corresponding sodium salt can be prepared from diisopentyl-disulfide and sodium metal in liquid ammonia.
