| THORIUM FLUORIDE Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | THORIUM FLUORIDE is White powder. Dehydrated between 200 and 300C. Above 500C reacts with atmospheric moisture to form thorium oxyfluoride, ThOF2, and finally the oxide, ThO2. Forms a series of compounds with other metallic fluorides such as NaF and KF.
| | Uses | Production of thorium metal and magnesium– thorium alloys, high temperature ceramics. THORIUM FLUORIDE is used as a protective coating on reflective surfaces.
| | Hazard | Toxic material. |
