| Barium boron oxide Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | Barium diborate is a biocide registered in USA since 1960 as a broad-spectrum bactericide and fungicide. It is added to paints, coatings, adhesives, plastics, and paper and paper products. |
| Uses | Barium metaborate is used both as a flame retarder and as an antifungicide for many flexible poly(vinyl chloride) applications. |
| Preparation | Barium metaborate can be prepared by reactionof an aqueous solutionof boric acid with Ba(OH)2. The prepared g-BBO contains water of crystallization that cannot be completely removed by drying at 120 °C. Dehydrated g-BBO can be prepared by heating to 300–400 °C. |
| Flammability and Explosibility | Nonflammable |
