Thiamphenicol , a methyl-sulfonyl derivative of Chloramphenicol, is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial antibiotic . Thiamphenicol acts by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, leading to inhibition of protein synthesis and bacteriostatic effect (against Gram-negative , Gram-positive aerobic and anaerobic bacteria ).
