(2S,3S,11bR)-Dihydrotetrabenazine ((2S,3S,11bR)-DHTBZ) is a highly selective inhibitor of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 ( VMAT2 ) with a K i value of 593 nM. (2S,3S,11bR)-Dihydrotetrabenazine inhibits vesicular transport of monoamine neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, reducing their synaptic release. (2S,3S,11bR)-Dihydrotetrabenazine is promising for research of Huntington's chorea and other hyperkinetic disorders.
