(±)-Perillaldehyde has an antidepressant effect by modulating the olfactory nervous system in a mouse model of stress-induced depression. (±)-Perillaldehyde also has anti-inflammatory activity, inducing JNK activation in RAW264.7 cells and inhibiting the expression of TNF-α , with an IC 50 of 171.7 μM.
