L-Palmitoylcarnitine, a long-chain acylcarnitine and a fatty acid metabolite, accumulates in the sarcolemma and deranges the membrane lipid environment during ischaemia. L-Palmitoylcarnitine inhibits K ATP channel activity, without affecting the single channel conductance, through interaction with Kir6.2 .
