Overview

Chalcomycin is a macrolide antibiotic , which exhibits antimicrobial activities against gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes . Chalcomycin protects mice from infection with a variety of staphylococci and streptococc , without significant toxicity (LD 50 >2500 mg/kg).
