Fosmidomycin

Overview

Fosmidomycin is an orally active antibiotic , which exhibits antimalarial activity through inhibition of 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerase ( DOXP reductoisomerase ). Fosmidomycin inhibits P. falciparum strains 3D7, HB3, Dd2 and A2, with IC 50 s of 150, 71, 170 and 150 ng/mL, respectively. Fosmidomycin exhibits synergistic effect with Clindamycin ( HY-B1455 ), and ameliorates malaria in mouse model.
