Lactitol monohydrate reduces the populations of Bacteroides , Clostridium , coliforms and Eubacterium , while increasing the populations of Lactobacillus and Streptococcus . Lactitol monohydrate can be used in the research of portosystemic encephalopathy and chronic constipation.
