Overview

Leptomerine, an alkaloid from stems of Esenbeckia leiocarpa Engl. ( Rutaceae ) as potential treatment for Alzheimer Disease. Leptomerine inhibits acetyl cholinesterase ( AChE ) with an IC 50 of 2.5 μM. Anticholinesterasic activity.
